Inventor Spotlight - Andreas Hoenigschmid

Sand artist by day. Shashibo mastermind at night. Inspired by his love of design, geometry and sand art, Andreas wanted to create a magnetic puzzle toy that would be accessible to people of all ages and walks of life, even those vision-impaired. Once he figured out how to magnetically combine the units onto each other, he realized this was the idea he'd been waiting for his whole life. Thus, the Shashibo (Shape Shifting Box) was born.

What is Shashibo made of?

How big is Shashibo?

Each Shashibo is 2.4″ when in its original cube form. As you transform it from shape to shape to explore the 70+ shapes each cube can make, it expands and becomes bigger. If you collect & connect more than one Shashibo, the overall structure becomes even larger!

What are HyperTiles?

HyperTiles are a construction toy that lets children create unique shapes by linking tiles together in unpredictable ways. The tiles are based on a mathematical shape called a hyperbolic paraboloid.
